About Me

My name is Riley Scott Johnson. I am going to LBCC as a way to change careers. I have actually gone to LBCC before, and ended up dropping out part way into my second term. After that I went into Information Technology, and self taught myself the certifications.I haven't bothered to renew the certifications but I was previously Comptia A+ and Comptia Network+ certified. In my free time I mostly play card games, usually Magic the Gathering or Yugioh. I also love video games, especially grand strategy games or "map painters". I am coming back to school to study Journalism, and I hope to someday become an investigative journalist. I was inspired to go into journalism because of just how much is constantly happening in our modern world, and I think a lot of traditional forms of news media are ineffective in the modern day, not to mention how low trust is in the media for the average person. I also feel like there is a gap in media coverage for many financial/business topics from a progressive perspective, as most progressive media tends to focus on social issues or social impacts. I am especially interested in financial/business journalism as I think personal/business finance and economics is so poorly understood in the modern day, and we have seen a massive explosion in financial crime in recent years that has gone largely unpunished. I often say half jokingly "In the year of our lord 20XX crime is legal"
